Ignite Leadership Program
2025 Ignite Leadership Program
You Already Lead. Now It's Time to Govern.
The Ignite Leadership Program is a leadership-to-governance pipeline designed to prepare, support, and connect Black leaders with opportunities to serve on city, county, and state boards and commissions across Arizona. Through education, mentorship, application support, and strategic relationship-building, Ignite empowers participants to move from community leadership into positions of public influence and decision-making.
Our vision is simple: ensure that Arizona’s governing bodies reflect the diversity, talent, and lived experiences of the communities they serve.
About the Program
Boards and commissions play a critical role in shaping policies, allocating resources, and guiding decisions that impact education, transportation, housing, public safety, health, economic development, and other key areas of civic life. Yet Black voices remain significantly underrepresented in many of these spaces.
The Ignite Leadership Program bridges that gap by helping participants understand how governance works, identify opportunities for service, and successfully navigate the appointment process. Participants receive hands-on support throughout their journey—from exploration and application to placement and onboarding
